Khetala
A smart agriculture app that puts an AI assistant, learning resources, and crop tutorials in every Nepali farmer's pocket — so good advice isn't gatekept by geography.
View case study →I help founders, startups & teams ship production-grade Flutter apps, AI-powered tools, and embedded systems — with a track record across agriculture, healthcare, and brain-computer interfaces. Available for remote freelance engagements worldwide.
Currently pursuing my Bachelor in Electronics & Communication Engineering at Nepal Engineering College.
Hi — I'm Narayan Pokharel, an Electronics and Communication Engineering student from Bhaktapur, Nepal. I'm passionate about turning ideas into shipped products that solve real problems for real people.
My work lives where AI, mobile development, and embedded systems meet — especially in agriculture, healthcare, and brain-computer interfaces. I love going from a rough whiteboard sketch to a polished Flutter app or a working EEG-driven prototype.
Right now I'm focused on improving AI-powered tools for farmers, developing EEG-based intelligent systems, and going deeper on advanced Flutter and backend integration.
A mix of programming, core engineering, and the systems I keep coming back to.
"I'm interested in shipping over showing off — useful tools for real people, especially the ones tech usually forgets."
A working principleFrom idea on a napkin to a polished build — here's how I can help.
Cross-platform mobile apps with clean UI, offline-first thinking, and Firebase / OAuth integration baked in.
Practical AI features — chatbots, image classification, voice, recommendations — wired into apps that ship to real users.
BCI prototypes and DSP pipelines — from filtering raw EEG to classifying intent with neural nets.
Microcontroller firmware for sensors, antennas, and connected devices — useful especially for agri-tech in rural settings.
Fast, modern, mobile-first websites for products, portfolios, and small businesses — built clean, deployed fast.
Architecture reviews, tech-stack picking, project scoping — useful for startups and student teams just starting out.
A short, honest process — no waterfall theatre, no vague PMing. Four phases, fast loops, real shipping.
A short call to understand the problem, the users, the constraint. I'd rather scope down and ship than scope up and stall.
Quick wireframes, then mid-fidelity mocks in Figma. We agree on the shape before code starts — saves weeks later.
Iterative weekly sprints. You see real progress every week, not a black-box reveal at the end. Ship-able from week one.
Deploy, document, train. Plus a 30-day window where I'm on tap for bug fixes and small adjustments. Trust over transactions.
Roles, projects, and rooms that have shaped how I think and ship.
Building Flutter applications and AI-assisted tooling for drone-based agriculture and healthcare delivery. Working on data pipelines from drone payloads into mobile dashboards farmers and field staff can actually use.
Coursework spans digital signal processing, antenna & propagation, embedded systems, communication theory, and engineering mathematics. Coordinator and contributor on student tech projects.
Designed and shipped an AI-assisted mobile app putting crop guides, market prices, and personalised farming tips into Nepali farmers' pockets — focused on low bandwidth, plain language, and real field use.
Worked on EEG signal acquisition and classification for an assistive BCI prototype — building filtering pipelines and a feedforward neural network to map signals to intent.
Built MVPs, landing pages, and small Flutter apps for early-stage founders — practising the loop of clarifying a vague spec, scoping it down, shipping fast, and iterating with real feedback.
Selected work across agriculture, healthcare, language learning, and consumer AI.

Khetala recognised at a college-level innovation showcase for combining AI, mobile, and rural focus into one product.
Selected as a finalist for an EEG/BCI healthcare prototype — pitched a wearable assistive interface for patients with limited mobility.
Completed Google's Flutter development curriculum — covering state management, navigation, Firebase, and Material 3 patterns.
Hands-on certification covering NumPy, pandas, matplotlib, and intro to machine learning workflows.
Invited to speak to juniors on "From college projects to real apps" — covering Flutter, Firebase, and shipping mindset.
Attended an IEEE-led workshop on practical signal processing — filtering, FFT, and applications in biomedical signals.
Contributions to small open-source Flutter packages — bug fixes, documentation improvements, and tutorial examples on GitHub.
Preparing for the official A1 German certification — targeted at study abroad in Germany. Trilingual self-built app supporting the prep.
A few notes from people I've shipped alongside — mentors, teammates, and clients who trusted me with their ideas.
Narayan combined product instinct with engineering rigour from day one. He shipped the first Khetala build faster than anyone expected — and made it actually usable for farmers, not just demo-ready.
Rare to find a student-engineer who balances depth in signal processing with the patience to ship real Flutter apps. Narayan is one of the most self-driven juniors I've worked with at NEC.
Hired Narayan for a freelance Flutter MVP. Clear communicator, fair scoping, and the UI he delivered punched well above the budget. We've since handed him two more projects.
Inspired by Derek Sivers' /now page — a snapshot of what's actually in motion this season.
I'm in my final semesters at Nepal Engineering College, balancing thesis work with active builds. Aiming for graduate studies abroad — Germany is high on the list.
